NOTE: This opportunity is NOT at the Feeding South Dakota warehouse on N. Creek Drive. You will need to go to the site of the Rapid City Thanksgiving Giveaway located at the Central States Fairgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks to help with the Thanksgiving Giveaway. The distribution will be held from 7:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23rd. This opportunity includes working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Volunteer duties may include:
- Directing traffic and greeting the public
- Distributing tickets to guests receiving meals
- Loading food into vehicles and ensuring a friendly farewell
Requirements:
Please plan for inclement weather. We encourage you to dress in layers and wear comfortable clothing. All volunteers must arrive wearing closed toed shoes. Any required safety gear will be provided.
- Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time
- Ability to lift about 10 to 40 pounds
- Work will be outdoors in winter weather. Please dress accordingly to stay warm. Water and coffee will be available.
Age Requirements:
This position will be working outdoors in a parking lot around vehicle traffic. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be 11 years or older. Volunteers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
