Feeding South Dakota needs physically strong and kind-hearted volunteers to help deliver backpacks to children for our Summer BackPack Program!

Summer BackPack Program Delivery – Sioux Falls
Each week during the summer months our volunteers and staff prepare nearly 1,500 backpacks for children in need of food assistance over the weekend. This is where we need your help! This opportunity includes riding along with a Feeding South Dakota staff member to deliver backpacks to schools throughout the Sioux Falls area.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteers will ride in a Feeding South Dakota vehicle and assist with unloading and loading totes. Full totes weigh approximately 30 pounds, so the ability to lift heavy items over several hours is required.
Support/Training:
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early and wear comfortable clothing in layers and closed-toe/closed-heel shoes. Volunteers will be given instructions and training upon arrival and will have staff support and supervision throughout their shift.
Qualifications:
- Ability to intermittently stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds over several hours.
Age Requirements:
This position will be working outside in all weather conditions. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be 18 years or older.
