We need your help in our distribution center! Distribution center volunteers help ensure we have enough food for families in need. Volunteers are tasked with helping with the following projects:
BackPack Program
Volunteers will pack sacks of food for children in Sioux Falls. The BackPack Program supports over 3,000 children in the Sioux Falls area, and we need your help to ensure no child goes hungry in our community.
Food Box Packing
Help your neighbors in need by packing food boxes at Feeding South Dakota's Sioux Falls location. Our mobile boxes help feed children and families who need food assistance. CSFP boxes assist seniors living on a fixed income across the state.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer tasks vary by location, volunteer schedule, and the work that needs to be accomplished to end hunger across the state of South Dakota. Work may include sorting perishable or non-perishable food, packing food into boxes for distribution, repackaging bulk food, and packing BackPacks of food for children.
Support/Training:
Please arrive 10 minutes early and wear comfortable clothing in layers and closed-toe/closed-heel shoes. Volunteers will be given instructions and training upon arrival and will have staff support and supervision throughout their shift.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time
- Ability to lift 10 to 30 pounds

- A waiver must be submitted prior to volunteering. Any volunteers under 18 years old MUST have parent signature on waiver prior to volunteering.
Age Requirements:
This position will be working in a warehousing facility alongside forklift traffic. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be 11 years or older. Volunteers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
