Food Box Packing - Rapid City

Help your neighbors in need by packing food boxes at Feeding South Dakota's Rapid City location that will help feed children and families who need food assistance. Volunteers may also work on other projects that aid in emergency food assistance efforts for South Dakotans in need.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteers will pack fresh and nonperishable food items in assembly-line fashion and are spaced/divided into smaller groups within the warehouse to ensure social distancing.

Support/Training:

Please arrive 10 minutes early and wear comfortable clothing in layers and closed-toe/closed-heel shoes. Volunteers will be given instructions and training upon arrival and will have staff support and supervision throughout their shift. Morning shift volunteers, please enter through the main door.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time
  • Ability to lift 10 to 30 pounds

Age Requirements:

This position will be working in a warehousing facility alongside forklift traffic. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be 11 years or older. Volunteers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
