Senior Food Box Packing - Sioux Falls
Help Feeding South Dakota eliminate hunger in our state by filling boxes with food items for senior citizens across the state. Volunteers in this position help us feed food-insecure individuals across the South Dakota. These boxes are distributed from our Sioux Falls distribution center and partner agencies each month.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteers will fold and tape boxes and pack nonperishable commodity food items in assembly-line fashion in a warehouse setting.
Support/Training:
Wear comfortable clothes in layers, closed-toe/closed-heel shoes and your CDC-recommended cloth face covering or disposable mask. Volunteers will be given instructions and training upon arrival and will have staff support and supervision throughout their shift. Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign our volunteer waiver form.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time
- Ability to lift 10 to 30 pounds
Age Requirements:
This position will be working in a warehousing facility alongside forklift traffic. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be 11 years or older. Volunteers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

At Feeding South Dakota, there is no higher priority than the safety of our volunteers and the people we serve. We strive to maintain clean facilities and follow best practices for food safety.
Due to COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions, including overnight sanitizing, increased cleaning of surfaces throughout the day and emphasizing frequent handwashing, use of hand sanitizer and changing of gloves.
