Join Feeding South Dakota for “Bring A Child to Serve Day” on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, volunteers nationwide honor Dr. King’s legacy by serving their communities. Feeding South Dakota invites parents/caregivers and their children to participate in a special day of service designed to raise awareness about hunger.
Event Details
What: Children ages 5 and up, along with their parent/caregiver, will work on a project to pack food to support local families in need.
When: Monday, January 20, 2025
- 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
- 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Group Volunteers
In order to ensure that every volunteer has proper space and a task to complete, please refrain from bringing volunteers who are not signed up.
Group leaders should follow these steps to sign up as a team:
- Click the "RESPOND AS A TEAM" button.
- Create a team name (e.g., your family’s last name) and click "CREATE TEAM."
- Select "ADD TEAM MEMBER," enter the parent/caregiver's information, and reserve additional slots for children.
- Click "SUBMIT MEMBER," then add each child’s details.
Support & Training
- Arrive 5 minutes early.
- Wear comfortable, layered clothing and fully enclosed shoes. If proper footwear isn't worn, volunteer will be asked to volunteer another day with proper footwear.
- Volunteers will receive on-site instructions and training, with staff support provided throughout the shift.
