Opportunity

Feeding South Dakota staff and volunteers work together to serve approximately 12,000 families each month through Mobile Food Distributions across the state.

We are seeking a volunteer to assist with guest registration, which includes checking in guests and entering or updating information on a tablet.

 

Key Responsibilities

Check in guests at the distribution using a tablet Enter or update guest information as needed Be respectful, welcoming, and supportive of guests, volunteers, and staff Review the Volunteer Guide for Registering Guests at a Mobile Distribution prior to your shift

 

Support & Training

Volunteers are encouraged to attend an in-person training with staff before their first shift Feeding South Dakota staff will be available on-site for support and supervision throughout the shift

 

What to Wear

This distribution is held outdoors, so please dress for the weather Wear comfortable, layered clothing Fully enclosed shoes required (no Crocs, sandals, or open-toed shoes)

 

Qualifications

Ability to treat all guests and volunteers with respect and kindness Comfortable standing and walking for 1–2 hours Comfortable using a tablet

Mobile Food Distribution Volunteer Opportunity

Make a difference by distributing food boxes and bags to individuals and families facing food insecurity in local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

As a volunteer, you will assist with various tasks to ensure the smooth distribution of food to the public. Duties may include:

Directing traffic to maintain an orderly flow Registering guests using pen and paper or tablet computers Loading food into vehicles and offering a warm farewell

Support and Training:

Wear comfortable, layered clothing and fully enclosed shoes Volunteers will receive on-site training and instructions Feeding South Dakota staff will be available to guide and support you throughout your shift

Qualifications:

What to Wear:
Our distributions take place outdoors, so please dress for whatever South Dakota weather decides to throw our way! Layers and comfortable clothing are always a good idea.
For safety, closed-toe, closed-heel shoes are required—your whole foot must be covered. No Crocs, sandals, Keen sandals, etc. If someone arrives without the right footwear, we’ll kindly ask them to change shoes or join us another time.

Qualifications:

·         Bring a friendly attitude and a great SMILE!

·         Comfortable standing and walking for 2–3 hours

·         Able to lift about 10–30 pounds

Age Requirements:
Because we’re outdoors and around moving vehicles, volunteers must be 11 years or older.
Anyone under 14 will need to volunteer with an adult.
