Warehouse Volunteer - Pierre
Assist in the warehouse with various tasks, including but not limited to sorting, labeling and packing perishable, non-perishable, commodity and bulk food items for distribution. Pick orders for Feeding South Dakota non-profit partner agencies. Other duties may include helping our team members deliver food and cleaning the distribution center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work around forklifts
- Potentially use a pallet jack
Support/Training:
Please wear layers and closed-toe shoes, and we recommend bringing your own CDC-recommended cloth or disposable face covering. Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign our volunteer waiver form and have your temperature taken in a private area by a member of our staff. Volunteers will be given instructions and training upon arrival and will have staff support and supervision throughout their shift.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time
- Ability to lift 10 to 30 pounds.
Age Requirements:
This position will be working in a warehousing facility alongside forklift traffic. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be 11 years or older. Volunteers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
