Mobile Food Distribution Volunteer
Help bring food directly to neighbors across South Dakota.

Every month, Feeding South Dakota serves more than 12,000 families in all 66 counties.
Our Mobile Food Distribution Program allows us to go where hunger is instead of expecting families to travel long distances for food.
By volunteering, you'll experience communities across South Dakota while making a direct impact on families facing food insecurity.
What You'll Experience
- Ride with one of our friendly Feeding South Dakota drivers.
- Meet fellow volunteers and community members.
- Visit rural communities throughout South Dakota.
- Make a meaningful difference for neighbors experiencing hunger.
- Spend the day outdoors and enjoy the fresh air.
What You'll Be Doing
- Register guests using an easy-to-learn iPad application.
- Help distribute food to families.
- Create a welcoming, respectful experience for every guest.
- Ride in a Feeding South Dakota vehicle with staff throughout the day.
Before You Arrive
Training: Please arrive at least 5 minutes early. Staff will provide all training and support throughout your shift.
Dress: Comfortable clothing in layers and fully enclosed shoes.
Lunch: Please pack a lunch, snacks, and drinks. Breaks are taken while traveling.
Volunteer Requirements
- Comfortable learning a simple guest registration webpage on an iPad.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Treat guests and fellow volunteers with kindness and respect.
- Sit, stand, and walk intermittently for up to 6 hours.
- Lift 5-10 pounds.
- Must be at least 18 years old.

Check-In:
Use the side door next to the garage door on the south side of the building. Ring the doorbell, and a staff member will let you in.
