Help Us Get a Head Start on the School Year!
As a new school year begins, we're already preparing weekend food packs for kids across South Dakota, and we need your help packaging sunflower seeds for our Backpack Program.
You'll scoop, weigh, and seal individual bags of sunflower seeds that will be included in weekend food packs for children who may not have enough to eat when school is out. Every bag you package helps ensure a child has nutritious food to take home for the weekend.
What to Wear
- Fully enclosed shoes
- Comfortable layers
What to Expect
- All instructions and training will be provided when you arrive.
- This project takes place in our Clean Room.
- We'll provide all required food safety gear:
- Apron
- Gloves
- Mask
- Hair net
- Beard net (if applicable)
Before You Arrive
- Please remove all jewelry before entering the Clean Room. If needed, we'll provide small bags to safely store your jewelry during your shift. You aren't required to remove any jewelry that is covered by the provided food safety gear, or jewelry that is considered "permanent."
- If you need an accommodation, such as a stool, please let us know before your volunteer shift so we can have everything ready for you.
Thank you for helping make weekends a little brighter for children across South Dakota :)
