Sioux Falls: Backpack Program - Snack Packers in Bulk-Food Room (2026)

ALLERGEN: Sunflower Seeds

We need help scooping sunflower seeds into kid-sized portions for our Backpack Program! Sunflower seeds are healthy and protein-packed, the perfect snack for kids. 

This project will take place in our bulk-food room, where you’ll scoop seeds, seal, and label bags that will go into backpacks for children across South Dakota.

What to Expect:

• Arrive at least 5 minutes early to get the scoop on how things work.
• Wear comfy layers and fully-enclosed shoes. No crocs, slides, sandals, keens.
• We’ll provide instructions, music, and staff support throughout the shift.
• Volunteers are required to keep the space as sanitary as possible; hairnets, aprons, and face masks will be provided to keep everything safe and clean.

Our volunteer opportunities are based on real-time needs. On rare occasions, a shift may be cancelled if those needs shift. If that happens, we’ll reach out as soon as possible and help connect you with another opportunity. We truly appreciate your willingness to serve!
