Volunteers help ensure we have enough food sorted and packed for families in need. The following are examples of projects that you might be helping with depending on the needs of the organization on any given day.

What You'll Do:

Food Box/Bag Packing - Help your neighbors in need by packing food boxes or bags at Feeding South Dakota's Pierre distribution center. This food will be distributed at our mobile distribution locations throughout central South Dakota to help feed children, families, and seniors who need food assistance. This work is done in assembly-line fashion with some volunteers on the assembly line packing the food and others helping to restock the line with the product. Food Sorting - Volunteers may sort and repack donated food (both perishable and non-perishable) from food drives, our retail store partners, or our Feeding America network partners.

What We're Looking For:

Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time. Ability to lift at least 5 pounds. Volunteers of all abilities are welcome. Any volunteers under 18 years old MUST have a parent or guardian signature on their waiver prior to volunteering.For safety reasons, all volunteers will be 11 years or older. Volunteers are needed to assist our operations staff in the warehouse with picking community partner orders from our food inventory.

What You'll Do:

Place boxes of product on a pallet.Use a manual or electric pallet jack to move the pallet through the aisles of food inventory . Work independently.

Join the Fight Against Food Insecurity: Volunteer with us in our Distribution Center!

Volunteers help ensure we have enough food sorted and packed for families in need. The following are examples of projects that you might be helping with depending on the needs of the organization on any given day.

What You'll Do:

Food Box/Bag Packing - Help your neighbors in need by packing food boxes or bags at Feeding South Dakota's Pierre distribution center. This food will be distributed at our mobile distribution locations throughout central South Dakota to help feed children, families, and seniors who need food assistance. This work is done in assembly-line fashion with some volunteers on the assembly line packing the food and others helping to restock the line with the product. Food Sorting - Volunteers may sort and repack donated food (both perishable and non-perishable) from food drives, our retail store partners, or our Feeding America network partners.

What We Offer:

Training upon arrival.Support from our dedicated staff throughout your shift.A welcoming environment where your contribution truly makes a difference.

What We're Looking For:

Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time. Ability to lift at least 5 pounds. Volunteers of all abilities are welcome. This food will be distributed at our mobile distribution locations throughout central South Dakota to help feed children, families, and seniors who need food assistance. This work is done in assembly-line fashion with some volunteers on the assembly line packing the food and others helping to restock the line with the product. Food Sorting - Volunteers may sort and repack donated food (both perishable and non-perishable) from food drives, our retail store partners, or our Feeding America network partners.

What We're Looking For:

Ability to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time. Ability to lift at least 5 pounds. Volunteers of all abilities are welcome. Any volunteers under 18 years old MUST have a parent or guardian signature on their waiver prior to volunteering.For safety reasons, all volunteers will be 11 years or older. Volunteers 11-13 years of age will be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Additional Details:

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early.Dress in comfortable layers; sometimes we work up a sweat!
